Nicomachean Ethics

I have a very good read to recommend to you. I love it and I'm sure it will be interesting to you too. Happy reading.

Blue Orchids

Today the blue orchids in my room ran out of water in their little green vase. I think I might let them wither, or should they join my collection of pressed flowers?

Second Chorus

I have finally watched 'Second Chorus' after a $17 dollar library fine! And it was worth it, so funny! But not enough dancing, I want a movie with Ginger now. Their dances are especially enjoyable. Maybe I'll watch him with Eleanor Powell...

Persimmon

I have discovered a wonderful fruit! I always knew about them in theory, and watched them in my fruit bowl occaisionally, but I have tasted two now! An astringent and a non-astringent. One was squishy and yummy, and after it was swallowed orange fuzz started growing in my mouth, covering my tongue, teeth, and the insides of my cheeks. It was a scary but nice after-effect. The other was crunchy and sweeter, with no after-fuzziness. They looked the same to me. I want more!

All That Heaven Allows

Missed opportunities. Today my long-term plan of leaving the last period of a boring double to catch the 3:00 showing of 'All That Heaven Allows' fell through. It was so sad, I was on the verge of handing in a fake sick note to leave early when I realised that: a) I am too honest and conscientious to forge and wag, b) I forgot my $11 for the ticket.

So I went to class and went home.

Spider Solitaire

On the holidays I developed a new obsession with Solitaire, Spider Solitaire 2 suits and Freecell. Thankfully, this embarrassing hobby withered and disappeared when school began. But last night it came back! I spent an hour playing Spider Solitaire until I won it with alternating colours in the decks (in the print screen picture above). I had this wonderful sense of achievement and embarrassment. But I don't regret it that much. In fact, I might play it now.

Sussan

My mother surprised me last week with a pair of pyjamas! She just saw them and bought them for me, I want her to do that more often - I got such a nice feeling.

James Stewart

I am studying 'Vertigo' in Literature class and incidentally went to watch 'The Philadelphia Story' at the cinema this Saturday. The charm of James Stewart has returned. I've always considered him an amazing actor, especially in his drunk scene in the latter film and his look of lovestruck lunacy and obsession in the former. The first movie I saw with him was 'It's A Wonderful Life' when I was little. How sweet. From a young James Stewart to an old one, he is always a pleasure to watch.

Jane Eyre 2011

I am so so excited about this coming out! Maybe I'll even postpone my date with Dumas to brush up on that beautiful novel before the film comes out! Which is September I think... too long.

Primrose vulgaris

Horrible name, beautiful flower.

San Francisco 1906

Oh I am so glad I didn't live in San Francisco that day. Sometimes the power of nature can be terrifying. Usually so vast, beautiful and fresh. The feelings of awe, inconsequence and insignificance it creates are usually comforting, but then its dark side appears.

Blair and Louis

My dream couple on Gossipgirl have finally arrived.

Fred Astaire

My book about Fred Astaire is so good! Now I know the man behind the dance.

Meet my future pet and favourite monkey ever! Look how cute...

Clark Gable at the Astor

Last weekend at the Astor was old Clark Gable films Sunday Matinee. It was wonderful! Next Sunday is Rare MGM Musicals. The last films I went to see there were of Fred and Ginger. I'm addicted. And such a beautiful atmosphere and architecture too!
